Sandra has over 15 years’ experience in the development of sustainability standards and certification strategies for many sectors and businesses.  She is passionate about innovative and outcome focused solutions for development and the creation of vibrant sectors and businesses that respond well to change. She is skilled in network creation, value chain analysis and development, workshop facilitation and research.  Sandra holds a MPhil in Land and Agrarian Reform from the University of the Western Cape.

Marthane Swart Partner

Marthane has over 10 years’ experience in the research and development of sustainable management practices for agribusinesses and related industries. She is skilled in systematic analysis of complex projects with multiple stakeholders and participatory planning to address specific development needs and challenges. Marthane is an expert facilitator and trainer and can enable human resource development in line with business goals on all levels, from general workers to top management. She also does certification support, conducts research studies and develops businesses for market access.  Marthane holds a Master’s Degree in Political Science from University of Stellenbosch.

Suzanne Herbst Consultant

Suzanne has over 20 years’ experience working throughout rural South Africa and has a keen understanding of the challenges faced by rural communities and small-scale businesses. Suzanne is an expert in training needs analysis and the development of training programs and capacity building strategies to enable sustainable development in businesses.  She is an enthusiastic supporter of entrepreneurs and community development initiatives.  Suzanne holds a Master’s Degree in Economic Management Sciences from the University of the Free State.

Faye Hartman Intern

Faye is 20 years old and from the Netherlands. She is a third year International Food & Agribusiness (IFA) student at HAS University of Applied Science in the Netherlands. IFA is an English-taught international bachelor programme about sustainable business with a focus on food, crop or animal production. Faye just finished a half year minor programme on development and environmental economics and policy at the Agricultural University of Wageningen. The SKA team is very excited to have her with us for 5 months (March – Aug 2019).
