Jumbo Charcoal Fair Trade Programme

We have worked with Traidcraft on the development of charcoal supply chains in Namibia since 2009. This work involved the development and capacity building of all local actors in the chain, including the charcoal burners, the farmers supplying charcoal to the factory and the workers at the factory. The work on farm and factory levels focussed on: 1) the evaluation of current practises against the European Fair-Trade Association (EFTA) criteria, 2) the development of custom made training materials and 3) the facilitation of workshops and training to create understanding of certification requirements and develop the capacity to implement actions and change practises to reach these requirements.
